Year 5 - Miss Jordan

General Election

In Year Five this week we have been learning all about the General Election.  We learnt how people get voted into power and what the government do for our country.  We then thought about what we would do if we were Prime Minister.

We finished off the week by holding our own General Election for a Year Five ‘Kid Minister’.  We had to work in groups to come up with our campaign and design a poster, slogan and logo.  We also had to write a manifesto giving people reasons as to why they should vote for us.  Please see below for a list of the candidates.

Lily – Golden Cheetah Party

Shannon – Paw Print Party

Ben – Fantastic Four Party

James – The Incredible Party

Mia – Future Tiger Party

Tiani – THT Party

Here are some pictures of us working on our campaigns.

This afternoon each of the parties delivered their speeches to the rest of the class.  We listened carefully to what they each pledged and thought about who we wanted to vote for.  We then took turns to cast our vote in secret and place it into our ballot box.

The votes have been counted and verified and we can reveal that Year Five's 2015 Kid Minister is...

Ben and The Fantastic Four Party

Congratulations to all of the children involved, everyone worked very hard.

Have a look at the pictures below of each of the Parties delivering their speeches and our voting!

Skillzone Visit

We had great fun visiting Skillzone in Gloucester.  We learnt all about important aspects of safety.
